  • HOW TO USE

    1. Tea

    • Preparation:
    • Steep 1 teaspoon of dried St. John's Wort in 150ml (about 2/3 cup) of hot water for 5-10 minutes.
    • Usage:
    • Drink 2-3 cups per day, ideally after meals.
    • This tea can also be cooled and used externally for compresses or dressings on the skin.

    2. Tincture

    • Preparation:
    • To make a basic tincture, fill a clean glass jar about halfway with dried St. John's Wort.
    • Cover the herb completely with a high-proof alcohol(like vodka or grain alcohol, at least 80 proof/40% alcohol by volume), ensuring the herb is fully submerged.
    • Seal the jar tightly and let it infuse in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks, shaking daily or every few days.
    • After infusion, strain out the plant material using a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve, pressing out all the liquid.
    • Store the finished tincture in a dark glass dropper bottle away from direct light.
    • Usage:
    • Tinctures can be taken directly under the tongue or added to a small amount of water or juice.

    3. Infused Oils

    • Preparation (Solar Infusion Method):
    • Loosely fill a clean, dry glass jar with dried St. John's Wort flowers and leaves. Do not pack them tightly.
    • Pour a carrier oil(like olive oil, sweet almond oil, or sunflower oil) over the herbs, ensuring they are completely submerged. Leave about an inch of headspace at the top of the jar.
    • Cap the jar tightly and place it in a sunny windowsill or warm spot for 4-6 weeks. Shake gently daily to prevent mold and ensure even infusion.
    • After the infusion period, strain the oil through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth, pressing out all the oil from the plant material.
    • Store the vibrant red-tinted oil in a dark glass bottle in a cool, dark place.
    • Usage:
    • Apply topically to soothe inflammation, reduce localized pain, or support wound healing. This oil can be used directly on the skin.

    4. Topically (Creams/Salves)

    • Preparation (Basic St. John's Wort Salve from Infused Oil):
    • You'll need your homemade St. John's Wort infused oil (from above) and beeswax pastilles. A common ratio is 1 ounce of beeswax per 4-5 ounces of infused oil, but you can adjust for desired firmness.
    • In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, gently melt the beeswax.
    • Once melted, slowly add your St. John's Wort infused oil, stirring continuously until fully combined and warm.
    • Carefully pour the hot mixture into clean, dry tins or small glass jars.
    • Let cool completely at room temperature until solidified. Cap and label.
    • Usage:
    • Apply salves or creams to the skin to help with wound healing, reduce inflammation, or soothe skin conditions like minor burns, bruises, or psoriasis patches.
